My Story

Remember to let Your Loving Light Shine.

About a year ago, I found myself walking through a store, smelling every candle on the shelf. I’ve always loved candles, but I realized that most of them weren’t made with people like me in mind—people who suffer from migraines, breathing sensitivities, or serious illnesses like cancer. That day, I made a decision: I would create candles that are clean, comforting, and safe for everyone.

That’s how Loving Light Candles was born.

I named the business with intention, but I never expected just how personal that name would become.

A Journey I Didn't Expect

We all know the word cancer—how heavy it sounds, how much fear it brings. In 2010, I lost my beloved Aunt Sandy to stage 4 lymphoma. She helped raise me until I was seven. She introduced me to my love of horses, putting me on one for the first time when I was just nine months old. Her loss was profound—and now, cancer has found its way back into my story.

At the beginning of 2024, I discovered a lump in my breast. It came and went, but returned again, larger. I was in denial. I hoped it would disappear on its own. But a kind coworker encouraged me to get it

checked, and I’m so grateful she did.

After a mammogram and ultrasound, the radiologist told me the words no one wants to hear: the lumps looked cancerous. I was shocked. I didn’t believe it. But on April 10, a nurse named Michelle confirmed it: I have breast cancer. I tested positive for all three markers—estrogen, progesterone, and HER2.

I was devastated. I'm a single mom of three beautiful girls, two of them teenagers. I felt too young, too busy, too needed. How could this be happening?

The Road Ahead

Treatment started on May 2 —my port was placed, and I’ll begin the first of six chemotherapy sessions over six months. After that comes surgery and targeted treatment for the HER2 protein. The journey will take over a year.

But here’s the thing: I’m not giving up.

Loving Light Candles isn't just a business anymore—it’s a reflection of my strength, my hope, and my purpose. Every candle I make carries that loving light I believe we all need, especially when life feels darkest.

Whether you're fighting a battle, supporting someone who is, or just looking for comfort and calm—these candles are for you.

Thank you for being part of my story.
